In 2018, Dansa Fusion participated in the Malaysia Floor Pattern Sport Dance Competition (MFPSDC) for the Professional Category, organized by Istana Budaya which was held on 08 to 12 May at Lambang Sari, Istana Budaya. The choreographer for this group is Izzie Islam and a total of 12 dancers who have represented the Dansa Fusion group for the competition. In this competition, we also have the opportunity to compete with dance groups in Malaysia such as JKKNHQ Group, Sanggar Mustika, and many more.
Dansa Fusion excelled and won the Runner -up and Harapan Group Award after going through 4 stages of evaluation, namely, Group Screening, Semi Final, Pre Final and then Final. The competition has an arena concept that aims to display the beauty and creativity of the creation of ‘floor patterns’ involving Joget and Zapin dance movements in the form of creative dance (new creation) including emphasis on the posture and gesture of the dancers. The program was judged by an invited jury namely Adzwadi Saini and Aida Redza.
The process of producing this work has various challenges where there is a change of dancers at the end of training and there are also some problems in terms of clothing because at that time, the Dansa Fusion group did not have a large collection of clothing. However, with the help of several parties, we were able to achieve a success that we all dreamed of.
To perform this dance, the dancer needs strong stamina, physical and mental because the choreographer created a dance that for me is very challenging in terms of floor patterns and dance movements where these two elements are very emphasized in the choreography and also the competition itself. But personally, I and the other dancers feel very enjoy and happy when performing because I can feel the energy and also the strong chemistry of all the dancers.
The organizers are also very professional in implementing programs like this and I personally hope that MFPSDC will be organized again in the future.
